“Employee of the Month,” a dark comedy set up at Lions Gate, will be the first project from the as-yet-unnamed company formed by former APG prexy Cathy Schulman, former Artisan Entertainment CEO Mark Curcio and former UPN entertainment prexy Tom Nunan.
Lions Gate will finance the dark comedy, the directorial debut of Mitch Rouse.
Written by Rouse and Jay Leggett, pic is the story of the twisted 36 hours after a guy loses his job.
Initial casting on the film is under way, with a production start targeted for early 2003.
Supervising the project for Lions Gate are Marc Butan, exec VP of production, and John Sacchi, director of development and production.
Rouse, who’s repped by CAA and managed by 3 Arts Entertainment, was a writer and actor on the Comedy Central series “Strangers With Candy.” He currently stars in the sitcom “Lost at Home,” a midseason replacement for ABC.
Leggett, who’s managed by Lenore Zurman and Kay Lieberman, was a writer and actor on “In Living Color.”
