‘Guru’ scribe inks trio of femme pix

Jackson sells 'Frying,' 'One' remake, romantic comedy pitch

Tracey Jackson, who wrote U’s upcoming Heather Graham starrer “The Guru,” has inked deals for three new projects with Warner Bros. Pictures, MGM and GreeneStreet Films.

GreeneStreet acquired Jackson’s untitled romantic comedy pitch, with principal Fisher Stevens (“Just a Kiss”) eyeing it as a directing project. Pic concerns a long-distance love affair between an India-based telemarketer who’s been trained to have an American accent and the would-be customer whom she reaches Stateside.

The Endeavor-repped Jackson also sold the spec “Into the Frying Pan” to Warners. The romantic comedy follows a spoiled young woman who’s left at the altar and tries to comfort herself with a luxurious week in Tuscany but inadvertently registers for a boot-camp cooking school. Alan Rich and Tony Ludwig are producing, and it is now out to cast.

She also is penning a rewrite of the remake of the Claude Lelouch pic “One for All,” set up at MGM. Original told the story of three beautiful and cash-strapped actresses who hatch a devious plot with a beleaguered and vengeful airline attendant. Deborah Chase and Arnold Rifkin are producing.

“The Guru” (aka “The Guru of Sex”), which co-stars Marisa Tomei, will premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival on Aug. 21.
