Fox 2000 has purchased “Battle World,” a fantasy-adventure pitch from the writing duo of Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, for mid- against high-six figures.
Barry Josephson will produce under his Josephson Entertainment banner, making “Battle World” the first project he has brought in under the first-look deal he signed with Fox last year. Josephson, who brought the concept to the writers, is currently producing “Like Mike” for Fox.
“Battle World” revolves around three teens playing a CD-ROM game who find themselves fighting for survival after being unexpectedly transported into the game. Fox 2000 exec VP Carla Hacken and creative exec Rodney Farrell will oversee the project.
Brandt and Haas have been attached to several high-profile projects recently, including the sequel to “The Fast and the Furious” and “The Courier,” directed by Jan De Bont for Splendid Pictures and Newman/Tooley Films.
The scribes are repped by WMA and Andrew Dean.
