Dugan to helm story of handyman's rise to fame
Comic scribe Jason Filardi (“Bringing Down the Houze”) will pen Martin Lawrence starrer “Ghetto Buck” for Columbia Pictures, with Dennis Dugan onboard to helm.
Pic will be produced by Sharon and Dennis Dugan, with Lawrence to exec produce. Columbia execs Amy Baer and Shannon Gaulding will steer the project for the studio.
Filardi, repped by ICM and Brian Lutz, will weave a story that follows a lovable and sheltered handyman’s rise to fame and fall from grace at the hands of an egotistical TV producer.
Filardi’s original comedy “Bringing Down the Houze” is in post-production at Disney, with David Hoberman producing, Adam Shankman directing, and Steve Martin and Queen Latifah starring.
Ice Cube recently came onboard to exec produce Filardi’s comedy “Race,” which follows the story of a guy recruited by a major network to be the first African-American NASCAR driver. That pic is set up at MGM with Hoberman and Ashok Amritraj producing, and production slated for later this year.
