Edinburgh improves

This year’s Edinburgh Intl. Film Festival, which wrapped Aug. 25, reported an 8% increase in attendance and a 15% rise in box office takings despite being three days shorter than last year.

Attendance reached 49,000, while advance ticket sales were up 32% over 2001.

“This year’s festival exceeded my expectation, both critically and commercially,” artistic director Shane Danielsen said.
