Distrib vet Mark Borde has launched Innovation Film Group, a theatrical distribution shingle based in Santa Monica.
Innovation has a consulting arrangement to distribute films for several companies, including Philip Anschultz’s Crusader Entertainment (“Children on Their Birthdays”), Hillman-Williams Prods. (“The Best Ever”) and Susan Jackson’s Turtles Crossing (“Night at the Golden Eagle”).
Innovation has also put cult classic “Flesh Gordon: The Director’s Cut” into release with a new 35mm print with 20 minutes of new footage.
On Sept. 20, Innovation will bow “Snipes,” a thriller that stars rapper Nelly in his feature debut.
An action-thriller set in Philadelphia’s underworld and rap industry, “Snipes” will open Sept. 20 in six cities and roll out nationwide thereafter, coinciding with Nelly’s current tour.
On Sept. 20, Innovation will also assist Rainforest Prods. in the rollout of “Pandora’s Box.”
On Oct. 18, Innovation and Tag Entertainment will release “Hansel & Gretel,” starring Vanessa Redgrave, Delta Burke and Dakota Fanning.
Innovation will then release Christiano Film Group’s “Time Changer,” the third installment of the “The Omega Code” franchise, Oct. 25.
Borde spent the last two years as president of Keystone Releasing, the distribution arm of Keystone Entertainment that handled “MVP: Most Valuable Primate.”
Prior to Keystone, Borde founded and was co-president of Legacy Releasing, which released titles such as “Shiloh,” “Once Upon a Time. . . When We Were Colored” and “Eight Days a Week.”
