Andrew Bergman will direct “Joe’s Last Chance” for Intermedia Films. He has just completed a rewrite of the script, which was originally penned by Dwayne Alexander Smith.
“Joe’s Last Chance” centers on a hitman with a bad back who travels to a tropical paradise on assignment. When the mark inadvertently saves his life, the hitman stays the execution and sparks an unexpected friendship.
Bobby Newmyer, Jeffrey Silver and Scott Strauss of Outlaw Prods. will produce the film, with Intermedia chairman Moritz Borman serving as executive producer.
Bergman is the writer-director of “The Freshman,” “Honeymoon in Vegas” and “It Could Happen to You.” He also wrote “Blazing Saddles,” “The In-Laws,” “Fletch” and “Soapdish.”
Basil Iwanyk and Lindsey Dold will oversee the project for Intermedia. CAA negotiated the Bergman deal.
Outlaw most recently produced “Training Day” and is preparing releases of “The Santa Clause 2” as well as “National Security” and “Mindhunters.”
