Oscar leaves letters visible

Kodak got a partial reprieve on having the company’s Hollywood & Highland signs covered on Oscar night.

Though the most prominent sign — the brass Kodak Theater letters above the main entryway — was covered, the vertical “blade” sign that runs down the side of the building was highly visible to all the cameras.

Academy spokesman John Pavlik said the sign was left untouched because it turned out to be technically more difficult than the Academy realized to actually attach covering to the structure and there just wasn’t enough time to do both signs.
