Service to let 'mmode' users access tune channel

NEW YORK — Warner Music Group has inked a deal to offer music clips, customized ring tones, artist photos and other promotional goodies over AT&T’s next-generation wireless phone network.

The new service, launched Wednesday, will let users of AT&T’s new “mmode” network access a Warner Music mobile channel, via which they can hear tracks from a rotating selection of roughly 30 WMG acts. They also will be able to download images, news and tour dates, and buy CDs or ring tones over the Net.

Under the nonexclusive pact, AT&T will also let its 20 million low-fi phone users access music content over its voice network by dialing #121 and using voice commands.
