Garson Foos, former senior VP of marketing for Rhino Records, has been appointed president and general manager of Retropolis Entertainment.
Foos will be responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations in both the audio and video/DVD areas, with an emphasis on A&R, marketing, business development and operations. Retropolis and Foos are heavily focused on developing TV-based projects with multiple product releases and revenue streams.
Foos led the development of Rhino as a brand, initiating the label’s partnership with PBS’ WQED and overseeing Rhino’s TV-marketed titles. He also launched the Rhino Retrofest, a three-day retro pop culture festival.
Retropolis is an entertainment umbrella company with a focus on music catalog development, homevideo/DVD and related television properties. Rhino vets Richard Foos and Bob Emmer founded the company earlier this year.
