Int'l pacts made to distrib specials, pix

HOLLYWOOD — Modern Entertainment has closed a series of deals for all forms of home entertainment (including DVD) from Playboy Home Entertainment.

Modern has firmed pacts with Medusa for the U.K., Lusomondo for Portugal, SRE for Korea, Cine Video for Mexico, Killic Film for Turkey and Panorama for Hong Kong.

All signed multiyear agreements to distribute at least 12 Playboy specials and 12 Eros movies per year.

The Encino, Calif.-based Modern, the worldwide distribution unit of MTG, is dealing with rights to up to 30 hours of programming a year for the next three years.

Modern has international distrib rights outside the U.S. and Canada. Company plans to focus initially on new productions but will also look into re-releasing product from Playboy’s library.

It also will explore establishment of co-production deals with local distributors to produce new videos under the Playboy banner.
