Sony Music Entertainment has signed a deal with Rockstar Games to release seven different soundtracks connected with the upcoming sequel to last year’s bestselling vidgame “Grand Theft Auto 3.”
As with its predecessor, “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” features different genres of background music on the car “radios” that players can activate while driv-ing in the game. Each of the soundtracks will include ’80s-era music from one of those genres, some 80 tracks in all from artists such as Hall & Oates, Judas Priest, Blondie and Grandmaster Flash.
A deal with Sony Music Entertainment was no surprise; “GTA: Vice City” will be released Oct. 29 only for Sony’s PlayStation 2 vidgame console under a deal announced earlier this year. The soundtracks will be released the same day, on Epic Records.
