Barry Mendel has hired Alisa Tager as an executive at his Universal-based Barry Mendel Prods.
Tager was most recently president and an inhouse producer at Reperage, the production company of director-producer Jean-Jacques Annaud (“Seven Years in Tibet”).
She worked there for six years in various capacities and on many of the company’s films, including “Tibet,” “Running Free” and “Enemy at the Gates.” (Tager was exec producer on the last two.)
“I am a huge admirer of the films Barry has made,” Tager said. “He has amazing taste and an unerring eye. I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to work with him and the incredible people with whom he is collaborating.”
Added Mendel: “Alisa has already excelled working with world-class filmmakers developing terrific projects, plus she has producing experience on epic, wonderful films in the most challenging of production circumstances. All of these are things to which we aspire, so this is a great opportunity.”
Prior to joining Reperage, Tager was a writer and production manager for musicvideos, and also worked as a production coordinator for concert tours in Spain, Russia and South America. She has also worked as a freelance journalist.
Mendel, whose producing credits include “The Sixth Sense,” is next making “The Prisoner” for Universal and “Shanghai” for Miramax.
