SAG, seeking to calm Hollywood’s nerves about its lapsed master franchise agreement, has asserted that it’s still business as usual for thesps and agents. Despite the Jan. 20 expiration, the guild asserted Thursday that members should keep working under previous agents deals. But SAG and ATA refused comment on specifics of further negotiations; for that matter, neither would even confirm talks were ongoing.
“We are continuing to make every effort to reach an agreement that is fair to all concerned,” SAG said in a message on its Web site. “The issues under discussions are not easy ones. We believe that SAG has demonstrated its willingness to reach a reasonable and fair compromise.”
