LONDON — HIT Entertainment, home of “Bob the Builder” and “Barney the Dinosaur,” has posted pre-tax profits of £15.2 million ($21.6 million) for the six months to Jan. 31. Sales were $83.7 million.
The results were above expectations and roughly five times higher than those for the same period last year due to HIT’s acquisition of the U.S.’s Lyrick Studios in 2001.
HIT said it sold more than 2 million “Bob the Builder” videos in the half year. In total, the company sold 5.4 million videos.
HIT’s stock price was up 7.9% in London in early trading Wednesday.
