Galotti talking again as new GQ publisher

Former Talk prexy to succeed Florio, upped to exec VP

Conde Nast has tapped former Talk Media prexy Ron Galotti as GQ publisher and senior veep.

The move marks a return to the CNP fold for Galotti, who in 1999 jumped from the flagship mag Vogue to launch Talk Magazine with editor Tina Brown, only to see their 28-month-old, $50 million title shutter last month.

Galotti will succeed Tom Florio, who moves up to CNP exec veep.

Conde Nast insiders see the GQ appointment as a step down from his former position at Vogue, the more prestigious post for a publisher at 4 Times Square. Some suspect the downgrade is temporary punishment for his defection three years ago. But verbal displays of affection among Galotti and top-ranking CNP colleagues in the press recently have many predicting the ad exec will ascend the ranks soon enough.
