HOLLYWOOD — Columbia publicity exec Florante “Flo” Sabado has been named veepee of national field operations for MGM Distribution, overseeing junkets and other local promo campaigns nationally.
Sabado is the third Col publicity exec to leap to the Lion in the last year, joining marketing and promotion prexy Bob Levin and publicity senior veepee Jamie Geller Hawtof, to whom Sabado will report.
He will oversee development and implementation of field publicity and promotions for MGM and United Artists films in the U.S. and Canada and supervise press junkets.
“Florante is an accomplished publicity executive with exceptional instincts, and I’m thrilled to be teaming with him again,” Geller Hawtof said.
Sabado spent a decade at Col, most recently as executive director of publicity for Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Cos. He began his entertainment career with Time Warner in New York as a special projects manager in the company’s magazine division.
