Civilian cuts losses

Sales fall 17% to $2.9 mil

LONDON — Civilian Content, parent of lotto franchise the Film Consortium and sales company the Works, has cut its losses by 68% to £250,000 ($388,000) for the six months to June 30.

Sales fell 17% to $2.9 million. The improved bottom line was achieved by reducing operating costs, down to $1.7 million from $2.3 million in the same period last year.

The group has also negotiated partial early repayment of a $2.9 million debt owed to it by its principal shareholder Richard Thompson.

Upcoming releases include Kristian Levring’s “The Intended,” Michael Winterbottom’s “M1157811” and animated pic “Bugs!” Pre-production has started on Stephen Fry’s “Bright Young Things.”
