Universal has hired Frank Chiocchi, former prexy and executive creative director of Craig Murray Prods. West, as senior VP, creative advertising.
At U, Chiocchi will oversee creative ad campaigns, including print and screen endeavors, for a range of releases.
At CMP, Chiocchi worked with U on some of its most prominent campaigns, including those for “The Mummy Returns,” “The Grinch” and “The Fast and the Furious.”
U marketing prexy Peter Adee described Chiocchi as a key appointment for the studio at a time when the pressure to open pics to big numbers is greater than ever.
“You need to have a well-oiled machine on top of that situation at all times,” he said. Adee described Chiocchi as “the consummate professional,” calling him “relentless in his pursuit of creative solutions.”
Chiocchi, who joined CMP in 1993, opened the company’s West L.A. office in 1996 and supervised the creation and production of all screen campaign materials there, working on pics like “Toy Story” and U’s upcoming “The Bourne Identity.”
He’s been honored with Key Art Awards for best action adventure TV spot for “Face/Off” and action/adventure trailer (“Blade”).
