BCE reports no lift from CTV, Ma Bell

For the year, web revs equal $13.46 billion

TORONTO — Canuck web CTV’s contribution to BCE’s fourth-quarter and year-end numbers, posted Wednesday, remained flat while Ma Bell reported a year-end profit of C$459 million ($285 million), a mere shadow of the $2.96 billion in profit posted a year ago.

Revenue for BCE’s fourth quarter ended Dec. 31 was $3.563 billion, compared with $3.28 billion a year ago, of which the Bell Globemedia division, to which Toronto-based CTV belongs, raked in $219.5 million. That’s up slightly from the $215.8 million posted by Bell Globemedia for the fourth quarter of the prior year.

BCE acquired the Canadian web in 2000, along with the Globe & Mail newspaper, both of which now belong to Bell Globemedia.

For the year, BCE’s revenue was $13.46 billion, compared with $12.39 billion the previous year, of which Globemedia pulled down $745.9 million in revenues, vs. $726 million in the fourth quarter the prior year.
