Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
This letter is to set the record straight about an article in the April 19 issue of Daily Variety regarding a speech I gave April 18 at the Southern California Technology Venture Forum.
The speech was about the imperative of security for the protection of entertainment intellectual property and the comprehensive methods that Movielink will take to help control piracy. I did not say or even imply that the launching of a new revenue stream was more important than stopping piracy.
Because of this inaccuracy and the mischaracterization implied in the headline, a reader was left with the impression that security is not a significant issue to Movielink or to the industry as a whole. This is totally incorrect. Security and the ending of piracy are at the essence of the Movielink business, as is helping to forge a consensus on digital rights management.
