‘X’ marks debut with 2nd place in syndies

Vet 'Entertainment Tonight Weekend' led weekly hours overall

The 3.3 national household debut rating of Tribune Entertainment’s new action hour “Mutant X” was high enough for second place among all syndicated weekly hours for the week ended Oct. 14.

Veteran “Entertainment Tonight Weekend” led the weekly hours overall, with a 4.0, according to Nielsen. Perf is up 18% week-to-week and up 25% over the show’s perf during the same week last year.

In third place, “Mutant X’s” fellow Tribune show “Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda” earned a 3.2, with the preem of its second season. Perf was up 28% over repeats the previous week, but down 26% from its series preem the same week last year.

“Mutant” and “Andromeda” air back-to-back on stations in the top four markets in the country, as well as in six of the top nine markets.

Firstrun actioner “Stargate SG-1” was next, up 4% week-to-week to a 2.6, which is down 10% compared to last year.

Weekly “ER” repeats were up 14% for the week to 2.5, but down 14% for the year.

The frosh off-net run of “World’s Wildest Police Videos” followed, up 14% over its preem in syndication the week before to a 2.4.

‘Raymond’ still loved

Among the new off-network sitcoms, “Everybody Loves Raymond” was up 5% week-to-week in its third frame to a 4.5, leading all new off-net laffers.

“King of the Hill,” up 8% over its preem to a 2.7 was next, followed by “Just Shoot Me,” down 4% in week four to 2.4.

“Steve Harvey” was up 8% to 1.4 in week four, and “Mad TV” was up 13% to 0.9 in week four.

“Friends” led the off-net sitcoms overall, dipping 1% to 6.6.

“Elimidate” continued to lead the new batch of relationship strips, moving up 9% week-to-week in its fourth week to its best perf so far, a 1.2.

“Fifth Wheel,” in its second week was flat with its preem at 1.0, and “ShipMates” in its seventh week and “Rendez-View” in its third week continue to move in tandem. They both went up 13% to 0.9.

“Crossing Over With John Edward,” which regained its Gotham clearance on Oct. 9 after weeks of preemptions, was even at 1.8 to lead the nationally-rated new strips. Perf includes the show’s run on Sci Fi.

Among the other new strips, “The Ananda Lewis Show” was up 20% to a 1.2, and “Iyanla” (down 9%) and “The Other Half” (flat) each earned a 1.0. “
