Six Nick shows say yes to union
The Writers Guild of America West has received a 19-2 endorsement from scribes at six Nickelodeon shows on the question of unionizing.
The guild announced the results after holding a secret ballot election Wednesday in front of the Nick studio facility in Burbank. State Assemblyman Paul Koretz (D-West Hollywood) oversaw and certified the balloting and Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Local 839 urged Nick to accept the results.
Nick said the voting was not binding, called it a “publicity stunt” and reiterated its position of waiting for the National Labor Relations Board to decide whether to order an election.
Nick has refused to grant WGA contract coverage for “Invader Zim,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Jimmy Neutron,” “Hey Arnold,” “Fairly Odd Parents” and “Constant Payne.”
