HOLLYWOOD — Numbers guru Jack Wakshlag has seen year-to-year growth at the WB, moving up to exec VP of research at the weblet.
Wakshlag, who reports to WB prexy-chief operating officer Jed Petrick, oversees all research regarding programming, development, distribution, publicity, marketing and sales. The exec, who’s been nicknamed “the Coach” inside the WB, joined the Frog in April 1995, soon after its launch. He previously served as senior VP of research.
“From day one, Jack’s role has extended way beyond that of a research professional,” Petrick said. “His experience as both a research executive and educator throughout his career has made him invaluable to both the network and every one of our affiliated stations.”
Wakshlag came to WB from CBS, where he was director of research. The exec spent 10 years at Indiana U., where he taught and researched basic and advanced research design, programming and audience analysis.
Wakshlag has been a member of the board of the Broadcast Education Assn. and the editorial board of the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media.
Also at the weblet, Jen O’Dea has been tapped to head up the WB’s New York research staff as VP of sales research. O’Dea joins the net from Fox Family Channel, where she was director of ad sales research.
