There’s more law and order at USA Television Production Group, which has upped David Karnes to senior vice president and general counsel.
Karnes has oversight of legal services at USA Television Production Group’s corporate operations, such as labor relations, employment, human resources, litigation management, copyright and trademark. He also handles legal services for Studios USA Television productions (such as “Law & Order”).
Karnes will report to USA Television Production Group prexy David Kissinger, who made the announcement Tuesday.
“His legal skill and knowledge are unrivaled in the field,” Kissinger said. “In this new role, David will provide indispensable leadership in guiding this studio through the increasing complexities of our business.”
Karnes joined Universal Television (which later became Studios USA TV) in 1995 as an attorney in legal affairs. He moved up to vice president of legal affairs at Studios USA in 1998.
Before Universal, Karnes spent nine years at the legal firm Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman, where he focused on entertainment contract disputes and copyright, trademark and right of publicity.
