TV Educativa (TVE) has revamped programming, bowing 17 new shows, mostly produced inhouse, as part of prexy Fernando Barbosa Lima’s drive to modernize the pubcaster.
Rio-based TVE is the lead station in a network of 135 pubcasters in several Brazilian states. It is funded by the federal government and ad sales.
The new slate builds on a tradition of non-fiction programming with daily newscasts and newsmags, talkers and in-depths reports. TVE is also airing sports, quiz and food shows as well as documentaries and Brazilian films and musicals.
The pubcaster has acquired new transmission equipment, which extends its reach in Rio.
