Exec's exit a blow to pubcaster
LONDON — Geoffrey Perkins has resigned as the BBC’s head of comedy to join indie producer Tiger Aspect as creative director of comedy.
The appointment of one of Blighty’s most highly regarded comedy mavens is a coup for Tiger and a blow to the Beeb.
Perkins will join Tiger in January to develop, produce and exec produce TV and film projects. His numerous award-winning small-screen production credits stretch back 20 years and include classic shows “Spitting Image” and “Father Ted.”
Tiger Aspect is one of the U.K.’s leading indie production companies. Movie credits include “Billy Elliot,” “Kevin and Perry Go Large” and “Bean,” and its TV hits include “The Vicar of Dibley” and “Harry Enfield and Chums.”
