Former 'NYPD Blue' star to join skein
Sharon Lawrence will join the cast of frosh CBS thriller “Wolf Lake,” repping her first dramatic series role since leaving “NYPD Blue.”
Lawrence is expected to finalize a deal to play Vanessa Cates, wife to the town’s powerful industrialist, in the Big Ticket/CBS Prods. skein. Lawrence joins thesp Mia Kirshner as late additions to the “Wolf Lake” cast; Kirshner was added to the cast last week.
Lawrence most recently starred in the CBS laffer “Ladies Man.” She’s best known for her six-season stint as assistant district attorney Sylvia Costas on ABC’s “NYPD Blue.” The actress’s character was killed in a dramatic arc during “Blue’s” 1998-99 season.
“Wolf Lake” follows the spooky happenings in a small town where residents can morph into wolves. Lou Diamond Phillips stars as Seattle police officer John Kanin, who comes to town in search of his missing fiancee (played by Kirshner). Lawrence’s character is married to the village’s “alpha” (leader) wolf.
Executive producers Alex Gansa and Rick Kellard have made a number of tweaks to “Wolf Lake” in recent weeks, including the addition of Lawrence.
The ICM-repped actress’s other credits include the NBC comedy “Fired Up” and the TV movies “Aftershock: Earthquake in New York” and “The Heidi Chronicles.” Film credits include “Gossip.”
“Wolf Lake” also stars Tim Matheson, Graham Greene, Bruce McGill, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Paul Wasilewski and Scott Bairstow.
