German popcaster Viva and AOL Time Warner will relaunch next year the troubled contemporary musicvid channel Viva Zwei as an interactive music web renamed Viva Plus.
Along with EMI Electrola and Universal, Warner Music Germany already owns 19% of parent company Viva Media, which runs the more successful youth-targeted Viva music web.
But media watchers doubt whether interactive elements will be enough to pump the channel. With the current financial slowdown, there is little desire to finance expensive programming makeovers. Viva Zwei has been generating losses of nearly $5 million a year.
