LAS VEGAS — Dick Wolf has rounded out the cast to the upcoming third installment of his NBC “Law & Order” trilogy, recruiting “Shannon’s Deal” star Jamey Sheridan.

Sheridan, whose credits include the CBS medical drama “Chicago Hope,” plays a police captain on the series.

Vincent D’Onofrio leads the “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” roster ( Daily Variety, Dec. 7). The Studios USA skein also stars Courtney B. Vance and Kathryn Erbe.

“Law & Order: Criminal Intent” began production Wednesday in New York. Wolf plans to wrap production on the show’s initial 13-episode NBC order before potential strikes cripple production this summer. Skein has a shared window with USA Network.

“Vincent, Courtney, Kathryn and Jamey are all brilliant actors,” Wolf said. “Vincent’s talent and experience will add a powerful dimension to the new show, and his decision to make ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’ his first foray into series television is extraordinarily gratifying. Courtney, Kathryn and Jamey are all currently in very high-profile film projects, which can only help bring viewers to our new series.”

Sheridan’s other TV gigs include “Now and Again,” “Veronica’s Closet,” “Picket Fences” and miniseries “The Stand.” Thesp’s bigscreen credits include current release “The Amati Girls,” “Cradle Will Rock,” “The Ice Storm” and “Stanley & Iris.”

Rene Balcer executive produces “Criminal Intent” with Wolf.
