MIAMI — Pay-TV programmer Pramer is splitting outgoing content director Karina Castellano’s job in two.
The Liberty Media-owned Buenos Aires-based firm has upped Fabian Vazquez to head of programming, while Adela Pinzon will look after production.
Castellano, who is moving to Miami Sunday to hang out her own Nativa shingle, will still be involved in the development and launch of Pramer’s new channels as well as the push for greater regional distribution for elgourmet.com, which she helped develop.
Just eight months after its launch, elgourmet.com has reached nearly 5 million homes, “which would indicate we chose the right niche,” Pramer’s director of sales and satellite distribution Gustavo Rabinsky told Daily Variety.
Castellano will also produce series for Pramer and generate exclusive material for Canal A and elgourmet.com, among other channels.
Separately, Pramer is revamping the Latin American Film & Arts channel, which it took over from Bravo last year.
In its film programming, it has added “cine de autor” slots, dedicated to the works of cult, indie and noted directors.
Pramer has acquired the exclusive rights to the Tony Awards live on June 3 for its Film & Arts channel.
