Comedian Demetri Martin is laughing all the way to the Peacock, signing a one-year development deal at NBC.
Martin made waves with his standup routine at this summer’s Just for Laughs festival in Montreal and caught the eye of network execs after his debut in its new faces category.
Martin becomes one of the first newcomers out of this year’s Just for Laughs to land at one of the major networks.
Pact calls for Martin to team up with another writer to co-create and star in a half-hour comedy. Peter Principato and Paul Young (“Reno 911”) are will co-exec produce the project.
A regular on the New York standup circuit, Martin has appeared on NBC’s “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” and “Late Friday” as well as Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend.”
Martin is repped by ICM and Principato-Young Management. Separately, Principato-Young recently signed up to rep comedian Kerri Kenney (“The Ellen Show”).
