Cablers airing British drama “Queer as Folk” reskedded the preem to try to stop underage viewers from seeing the gritty gay series.
Fox 8 had planned “Folk” for 10 p.m. Sundays. But just before its March 4 debut, bosses swapped it for part one of a two-part “making of” backgrounder, after realizing the show would air at 8 p.m. in West Australia.
During part two on March 11, viewers were asked to dial a number for instructions on how to view “Folk’s” premiere the following week.
Foxtel, owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Ltd., Kerry Packer’s Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd. and local telco Telstra, will cable the show through Channel 62.
