Oftel probes BSkyB

U.K. telecommunications watchdog Oftel is probing the prices satcaster BSkyB charges broadcasters for carriage.

The inquiry will look, in particular, at whether pubcasters the BBC and Channel 4 should pay as much as commercial TV companies, or even pay at all.

The BBC argues that BSkyB’s “conditional access” charges, which cover the satcaster’s digital costs, should not apply to free-to-air public service channels.
