LONDON — U.K. cable operator NTL has passed the 1 million digital TV subscriber mark.
The figure is the latest upbeat stat to be released by the cabler in an effort to calm investor worries over the company’s £12 billion ($17 billion) debt (Daily Variety, July 20).
But it also puts NTL hot on the heels of ITV Digital, Britain’s no. 2 digital platform with 1.14 million customers. Market leader satcaster BSkyB has over 5.5 million.
With Telewest, the U.K.’s other cable company, cable now accounts for more than 1.5 million digital subs in Britain.
