NEW YORK — Veteran TV production exec Kevin Kay has been upped to exec VP of production for Nickelodeon and TNN: The National Network.
Kay, who was most recently senior Nickelodeon VP of production and development, will oversee original series development and production for both Nick and sister net TNN.
“Over the past five years, Kevin has successfully developed a diverse and broad creative talent pool that has resulted in a slate of hit programming on Nickelodeon. That team gives TNN a great advantage as we pursue our goal of being 50% original programming by 2005,” said Albie Hecht, president of film and TV entertainment for Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite and TNN, to whom Kay will continue to report.
Since 1996, Kay has been responsible for the kidvid cabler’s program development and series production activities in Gotham, Los Angeles, Orlando and Canada. During his tenure at Nick, Kay has overseen the development of numerous shows, including “Taina,” “The Amanda Show,” “The Brothers Garcia,” “SpongeBob SquarePants” and the upcoming “Invader Zim.”
Prior to joining Nickelodeon in 1993, Kay had a development deal with HBO Downtown Prods.
