NBC telepic on ‘Ground’

Heigl, Smith to star in Laneuville-helmed terrorist project

Peacock has picked up the TV pic “Ground Zero” from “Charlie’s Angels” producer Leonard Goldberg. Katherine Heigl (“Roswell”) and Kerr Smith (“Dawson’s Creek”) are set to star.

Project comes from Goldberg and daughter Amanda Goldberg, Panda Prods. and NBC Studios. Eric Laneuville will direct “Ground Zero,” which starts production in Vancouver this week.

Heigl and Smith star as college students who build a nuclear bomb, which is then stolen by terrorists intent on blowing up San Francisco. Screenplay, by Tom Vaughan, is based on the James Mills novel “The Seventh Power.”
