More cablers to skip floor

Turner, Fox won't attend Western Show

Add Turner Broadcasting System and Fox Cable Networks Group to the list of cablers that will not be exhibiting at the California Cable TV Assn.’s annual confab, the Western Show.

The companies have reportedly joined a long list of cablers that already have decided not to grace the Western Show floor in Anaheim Nov. 27-30 as traditional exhibitors at many trade shows are feeling the pinch of the economic downturn.

Among those already said not to be exhibiting are HBO, MTV Networks, USA Networks, A&E TV Networks, Lifetime, E! Networks, Comedy Central, Starz Encore, Oxygen, Playboy and Game Show Network.

A spokesman for FCNG, which consists of such nets as FX Networks, Fox Sports Net and the National Geographic Channel, confirmed that the company will not be displaying on the Western Show floor. FCNG will, however, have hospitality suites and signage. The spokesman said the decision was economically motivated.

Reps for the CCTA and for TBS — which includes TNT, TBS Superstation, CNN and Cartoon Network, among others — could not be reached for comment.
