Petrie to helm from adapted script

NEW YORK — TNT has greenlit production on “Framed,” a psychological thriller starring Rob Lowe.

“Chocolat” producers David Brown and Kit Golden will exec produce, along with Lynda La Plante (“Prime Suspect”), who wrote the script for the British miniseries on which “Framed” is based.

Daniel Petrie Jr. (“Beverly Hills Cop”) is set to direct, from a script he adapted from La Plante’s original material. The original “Framed,” which aired on A&E in the early ’90s, starred Timothy Dalton and Penelope Cruz.

Lowe will play Mike Santini, a New York City detective who discovers the key witness in a money-laundering case while on vacation in the Caribbean.

Production on the two-hour telepic will begin in early May in Winnipeg, Canada, and the Bahamas.
