“Spin City” star Heather Locklear has inked a deal to remain with the ABC laffer for another year, greatly increasing the skein’s chances of returning for a sixth season.
Alphabet is still talking with DreamWorks Television about renewing “Spin,” but with Locklear and fellow star Charlie Sheen both wrapped up, insiders believe it’s very likely the two sides will be able to agree on terms for a pickup shortly.
Despite the departure of star Michael J. Fox, “Spin” has managed to post solid ratings for ABC on Wednesday nights. Moreover, ABC doesn’t have an overabundance of laffs in its lineup: Net has only two other scripted comedy hits — “The Drew Carey Show” and “Dharma & Greg.”
“Drew” is already set to return next fall; ABC is still talking to 20th Century Fox TV about a new deal for “Dharma.”
Reps for DreamWorks and ABC declined comment.
