Japan’s leading network, Fuji TV, and commercial satcaster Wowow both have appointed new toppers.
Fuji TV exec VP Koh-ichi Murakami, 61, will succeed Hisashi Hieda, 63, who made Fuji TV the most profitable of the five commercial networks during his 13-year reign. Hieda will remain CEO and assume the chairmanship of the network, which has been vacant since 1992. Murakami also will be named chief operating officer.
Wowow VP Yoshiro Yoshioka, 59, will be promoted to prexy and chief operating officer, succeeding Shoji Sakuma, 69. Sakuma will become chairman-CEO. Former chairman Eashiro Saito, 89, will be honorary chairman.
