India’s Urdu-lingo net bows

Eenadu Television (ETV) launched the first Urdu-lingo digital satellite channel Wednesday. Half the new channel’s entertainment programming will be produced inhouse while the rest will be commissioned or acquired from overseas.

ETV currently has three other regional language channels on air.

The ETV network is part of Eenadu Group, which has interests in television and print and is backed by media mogul Ramoji Rao, head of a 2,000-acre production studio in Hyderabad.
