Discovery will launch travel and health channels in India, it said Monday.
Discovery Travel and Adventure and Discovery Health will include local interest shows in regional languages, including Tamil and Telugu.
Deepak Shourie, the new CEO of Discovery India, told Daily Variety that the channels are part of a marketing strategy to reposition the pay channel.
It has lined up new programming blocks like Sunrise, Discovery Kids, Action Zone and Prime Time under a new marketing campaign lead by the slogan, “My Time on Discovery.”
Discovery bowed in India in 1995.
