HOLLYWOOD — The Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees has announced that editors at New York Times Television have filed a petition for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board.
IATSE said that the 75-member staff has agreed to affiliate with its Motion Picture Editors Guild, Local 700. New York Times TV produces “The Science Times” for the National Geographic Channel and programs for the Learning Channel including “Code Blue” and “Maternity Ward.”
“Documentary and reality television is our focus in terms of organizing, and these professionals deserve a union contract that reflects their contribution to the show,” said guild exec director Ron Kutak.
