Santa Monica-based Telco Prods. and Eugene, Ore.-based Chambers Prods. are teaming up to produce syndie courtroom strip “We the Jury.”
Telco prexy Alex Paen said his sales staff will start meeting with local stations across the country this week to discuss launching the skein as early as January. Production is set up at Chambers’ soundstage facility in Eugene.
Four test episodes of the potential half-hour daily show are complete. Paen describes the format as combining elements of “The View,” “Politically Incorrect,” “Oprah” and “Jerry Springer.”
In each episode, a group of eight jurors debates and decides a case that is based on a real story but portrayed by actors. Among the types of cases Paen has planned is a situation involving a divorcing couple who are fighting over possession of their frozen embryos.
Telco produces and distributes half-hour weekly syndicated show “Animal Rescue,” which is in its fifth season in broadcast syndication. Chambers and Telco already collaborate on “State Police,” a half-hour weekly in its soph season in firstrun syndication.
Paen is also a world affairs correspondent for KCBS Los Angeles.
