Helmer Mimi Leder has inked a one-year development deal to exec produce and direct a pilot for Fox Broadcasting Co.
Leder, whose fast-paced camera style helped launch “ER” into the Nielsen stratosphere, will either develop a project for Fox or come onboard one of the network’s existing pilots.
Deal is similar to a previous arrangement Leder had with Imagine Television, which led to last summer’s ABC drama “The Beast.”
Leder will develop via her Yak Yak Prods. and with Yak Yak exec Margaret French Isaac.
Fox Entertainment prexy Gail Berman said she’s “been interested in being in business with Mimi since the beginning of ‘ER.’ ”
“She’s a great director, and she also has real vision and an ability to work with writers in a truly unique way I admire,” Berman said. “None of her work is stagnant. She’s an action director even in a non-action project.”
Following her feature debut with “The Peacemaker,” Leder helmed “Deep Impact” and “Pay It Forward.”
Leder won an Emmy for directing the classic “ER” seg “Love’s Labor Lost.” She continues to have a first-look film deal with Warner Bros.-based John Wells Prods.
The deal with Fox was brokered by Leder’s reps at CAA.
