PRAGUE — Pubcaster CTV has narrowed down its list of candidates for the post of director general. Three finalists have been named out of a field of nearly 50.
They include current acting director general Jiri Balvin, docu director-producer Martin Vadas, and former CME director of program services Petr Sladecek.
Balvin, widely considered to be a safe compromise, was chosen as a temporary replacement when CTV employees lead nationwide strikes against the government-appointed management last Christmas.
Many media observers, however, support Sladecek, who left CME with the express intention of applying for the CTV director general’s position. Vadas, meanwhile, is the dark horse on the list, a surprise candidate who had received no prior attention.
A decision is expected in November.
