Watchdog group the Conseil Superieur de l’Audiovisuel issued sanctions against 12 cable and satellite channels for noncompliance with French and European audiovisual and film broadcast quotas for last year.

Channels sanctioned include AB1, Canal Jimmy, 13eme Rue, Action, Cine Star and Cine Cinemas.

Failure to abide by TV show quotas can result in a fine of up to 3% of a station’s annual revenues. Failure to respect film quotas can mean suspension of broadcast privileges or a 500,000 franc ($67,000) fine.
