Crier adds duties at Court TV

Anchor will expand days, be exec editor of legal news specials

Court TV anchor Catherine Crier is set to expand her role at the cable net.

The former Texas judge and prosecutor, who joined Court TV in 1999, will take on the additional responsibilities of executive editor of legal news specials. In addition, beginning Sept. 24, “Catherine Crier Live,” the net’s signature talk and news program, will expand from four to five days a week.

In her new role, Crier will help develop an editorial strategy for Court TV’s news coverage.

“Given Catherine’s experience and skills, we are delighted that Catherine will be taking a larger role in Court TV’s coverage of legal issues that extend beyond the courtroom and into viewers’ everyday lives,” Court TV chairman and CEO Henry Schleiff said.

Instead of airing from 5-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, “Catherine Crier Live” will now air Monday-Friday from 5:30-6 p.m. ET/PT. The legal cabler will extend its daytime trial coverage until 5:30 p.m. ET/PT.
