Cox’s O’Brien set to ankle

Ends 16-year stint at helm

Cox Broadcasting TV station group head Kevin O’Brien, who is also prexy/G.M. of Fox affil KTVU San Francisco, will ankle Cox when his contract expires at the end of the year.

O’Brien, who oversees Cox-owned stations KTVU, KICU San Jose, KAME and KRXI Reno and KFOX El Paso, said it wasn’t clear whether he’d be involved in the search for his successor.

He also said he has yet to decide what his next move will be after he leaves Cox, his employer of the last 16 years.

“I will have been here 16 years, and that’s a very long time in one position,” O’Brien said. “The station and my group is in wonderful condition, and I’d like to try something different, build something from the bottom up, like my group.”
